CVSS v3.1 |
| When a broker decodes a compressed record batch, the per-record decoder reads a declared body size from the decompressed stream and allocates a buffer of that size before validating it against the bytes available or any configured limit. The size is attacker-controlled, and the batch CRC does not constrain it, so a small (around 90-byte), CRC-valid compressed produce request can declare a body size of up to about 2 GiB and force the broker to attempt that allocation, raising OutOfMemoryError. The record size limit (max.message.bytes), the request size limit, and client/broker quotas bound only the compressed wire size, not the declared decompressed size.
Impact:
An authenticated principal with Write on a topic can crash broker request-handler threads (reached when a batch's codec differs from the topic's compression.type and records are re-encoded) and any consumer that fetches the record, denying service. On brokers started with -XX:+ExitOnOutOfMemoryError, a common hardening, a single crafted request terminates the broker JVM. More seriously, a crafted record is accepted at ingest and written to disk; when the log-cleaner later reads it on a compacted topic, the OutOfMemoryError (an Error, not an Exception) terminates the cleaner thread, which is not restarted. With the default of a single cleaner thread, log compaction then stops for the entire broker, including the internal __consumer_offsets and __transaction_state topics, and the condition persists across restarts until the offending record is removed. The impact is availability only; no data is disclosed or altered.
Mitigation:
Upgrade to Apache Kafka 4.2.2, 4.3.2, or 4.4.0, and set max.decompressed.message.bytes (at the broker and/or topic level) to a bounded value appropriate for your workload. Upgrading alone is not sufficient: for backward compatibility this configuration defaults to an effectively unlimited value (about 2 GiB), so a broker remains exposed until the limit is set. Choose a value at or slightly above the largest legitimate decompressed record your applications produce, and comfortably below the broker heap divided by the number of request-handler and cleaner threads. Until you can upgrade and configure the limit, restrict Write access to trusted producers; quotas and max.message.bytes do not mitigate this issue.
Resolution:
From Apache Kafka 4.2.2, 4.3.2, and 4.4.0: the broker validates a record's declared decompressed body size against max.decompressed.message.bytes before allocating, on the produce-validation, log-compaction, and timestamp-lookup paths, and rejects oversized or negative sizes with InvalidRecordException. Operators must set this configuration to a bounded value to be protected, as its default is effectively unlimited. |
| A Kafka broker using SASL/OAUTHBEARER with the default validator (sasl.oauthbearer.jwt.validator.class=DefaultJwtValidator) selects its implementation from configuration. When sasl.oauthbearer.jwks.endpoint.url is set, the validator verifies the JWT signature. When that URL is unset (the default) and no verification key resolver is supplied, DefaultJwtValidator silently falls back to ClientJwtValidator, which does not verify the JWT signature, algorithm, or issuer - and the broker starts with no warning or error. This is the residual of CVE-2026-33557, whose fix restored signature verification only on the path where the JWKS endpoint URL is set.
Impact:
A broker in this state accepts any structurally valid JWT, including "alg":"none" tokens. An unauthenticated remote attacker who can reach the listener can forge a token asserting any principal - including configured superusers - and gain full access to the cluster. Only brokers that enable SASL/OAUTHBEARER validation without a JWKS endpoint URL (and without a custom verification key resolver) are affected; brokers that set the URL verify signatures and are not affected. Unlike CVE-2026-110952 (issuer/audience not enforced by default), here no signature is verified at all.
Mitigation (all affected versions, no upgrade required):
Set sasl.oauthbearer.jwks.endpoint.url for every listener/mechanism that uses OAuthBearerValidatorCallbackHandler, or configure a signature-verifying sasl.oauthbearer.jwt.validator.class.
Resolution:
From Apache Kafka 4.2.2, 4.3.1, and 4.4.0: a broker that would fall back to the non-verifying ClientJwtValidator fails to start with a ConfigException instead of running without signature verification (secure by default). |
| pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.1, an attacker can craft a PDF containing image data labeled with the /DCTDecode filter that causes Pillow to select and invoke an unintended image parser when the image is loaded. Environments without the optional Pillow dependency are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.1. |
| A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in Fireware OS's WireGuard configuration processing allows a remote attacker that has man-in-the-middle TLS-decrypted access between the Firebox and WatchGuard Cloud to create a Denial of Service condition and potentially execute arbitrary code by tampering with a FireCloud Gateway configuration payload. |
| A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in WatchGuard Fireware OS’s management interface allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker with network access to the management interface to crash the management service by sending a specially crafted login request. Repeated exploitation terminates all active administrator sessions and in-progress management operations and can prevent management of the device. Traffic processing is not affected. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: SEV: Check PSC request indices against the actual size of the buffer
When processing Page State Change (PSC) requests, validate the PSC buffer
against the effective size of the scratch area, which could be less than
the maximum size if the guest provided a pointer that isn't exactly at the
start of the GHCB shared buffer. |
| In affected versions of Octopus Server, OIDC token issuer validation was performed inconsistently. This could result in a token issued from a suitably configured non legitimate issuer being accepted as a token belonging to a service account from a legitimate trusted issuer. Exploitation requires a service account with at least one OIDC identity configured. An attacker would also need to know or guess some details of that identity in order to be in a position to attempt exploitation. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mmc: core: Add validation for host-provided max_segs
The max_segs field is of type unsigned short, and if a host driver
sets an excessively large value, it may be truncated to zero. This
can cause mmc_alloc_sg() to call kmalloc_objs() with a zero size
allocation request, which leads to undefined behavior.
Under the SLUB allocator, kmalloc(0) returns a special pointer
(ZERO_SIZE_PTR). The subsequent 'if (sg)' check will evaluate to
true, and sg_init_table() will then attempt to access invalid memory,
resulting in a crash:

To prevent this, add a validation check in mmc_mq_init_request() to
detect when sg_len (derived from max_segs) is zero. If sg_len is zero,
we return an error and print an error message, allowing host driver
developers to identify and fix incorrect max_segs configuration.
This is a defensive measure that ensures the MMC core fails gracefully
when host drivers provide invalid max_segs values, rather than crashing
with a page fault. |
| Seroval facilitates JavaScript value stringification, including complex structures beyond JSON.stringify capabilities. Prior to 1.6.8, fromJSON and fromCrossJSON do not validate a sequence node's done index. A crafted done index can create an iterator that never finishes when application code consumes it to completion. An unauthenticated request to a service that deserializes untrusted input can therefore block the event loop, exhaust process memory, or make the service unavailable. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.8. |
| Tink-go (tink-crypto/tink-go) through 2.8.0 contains an input-validation vulnerability where keyset.NewHandleWithNoSecrets() and ReadWithNoSecrets() skip the structural Validate() step before constructing a keyset.Handle, allowing malformed public or no-secret keysets that violate Tink's keyset invariants to be accepted. Attackers can supply a malformed keyset, such as one with an enabled public key lacking a valid primary key or a DESTROYED key with no KeyData, causing inconsistent downstream validation where functions like jwt.JWKSetFromPublicKeysetHandle() process the invalid handle and produce a JWK set, potentially misleading applications that rely on successful handle construction as proof of keyset integrity. |
| vLLM from 0.20.0 before 0.30.0 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows remote attackers to crash the engine by sending inconsistent multimodal metadata to the disaggregated /inference/v1/generate endpoint. Attackers can replay a valid multimodal item with repeated or overlapping mm_placeholders ranges or mismatched kwargs_data and mm_hashes lists, producing a negative text span in Qwen2.5-VL position construction that terminates the engine. |

| gose parsed the JWS `crit` header into `JwsHeader.Crit` and then never read it. RFC 7515 §4.1.11 requires a recipient to reject a JWS whose listed critical extension parameters it does not understand. gose implements no header extensions, so every token carrying a non-empty `crit` should have been rejected — and none were. |
| zip is a zip library for Rust that supports reading and writing simple ZIP files. From 0.6.0 until 9.0.0, the AES entry reader in src/aes.rs verifies its HMAC only when the attacker-controlled data counter reaches zero. If the underlying bounded reader reaches the real end of the archive while data_remaining is still positive, or if an encrypted entry has no payload, the reader can return a clean end of stream without reading and comparing the authentication tag. Applications using by_index_decrypt, by_name_decrypt, by_path_decrypt, or password-enabled by_index_with_options can therefore accept modified plaintext without an authentication error. This issue is fixed in version 9.0.0. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: mac80211: limit injected antenna index in ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap
When parsing the radiotap header of an injected frame,
ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap() uses the IEEE80211_RADIOTAP_ANTENNA value
directly as a shift count:
info->control.antennas |= BIT(*iterator.this_arg);
*iterator.this_arg is an 8-bit value taken straight from the frame
supplied by userspace, so BIT() can be asked to shift by up to 255. That
is undefined behaviour on the unsigned long and is reported by UBSAN:
UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in net/mac80211/tx.c:2174:30
shift exponent 235 is too large for 64-bit type 'unsigned long'

| vLLM from 0.22.0 before 0.24.0 contains an improper input validation vulnerability in the Rust gRPC converter that allows remote attackers to bypass max_logprobs limits via CandidateTokens.top_n. Attackers can send Generate or GenerateStream requests with oversized or integer-wrapping top_n values to trigger torch.topk failures that terminate EngineCore. |
| vLLM from 0.22.0 before 0.24.0 contains an improper input validation vulnerability in the Rust gRPC Generate and GenerateStream service that forwards unchecked prompt token IDs to EngineCore. Attackers can submit requests with out-of-vocabulary prompt.token_ids values to trigger a fatal embedding lookup failure that terminates EngineCore and leaves the server unhealthy. |
