CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ceph: do not repeat ceph_trim_dentries() if no progress possible
ceph_cap_reclaim_work() re-queues itself for as long as
ceph_trim_dentries() returns -EAGAIN, which happens whenever a lease
walk exhausts its `nr_to_scan` budget. This creates a busy loop that
consumes CPU without making any progress when there is nothing to
reclaim: with no cap pressure (`count==0`) and every scanned lease
still valid, each pass runs the full scan budget down to zero and
returns `-EAGAIN`, only to be queued again immediately.
The dir-lease walk made this worse. When `expire_dir_lease` is
`false` (i.e. we have no intention of reclaiming dir leases),
__dir_lease_check() returned `TOUCH` for every valid lease. `TOUCH`
moves the dentry to the tail of the list and resets `di->time` via
__dentry_dir_lease_touch(), so a walk over N valid leases pointlessly
rewrote the list, refreshed the timestamps (preventing them from ever
aging out) and always drained `nr_to_scan`, guaranteeing the `-EAGAIN`
requeue.
Fix this in three steps:
- Return `KEEP` instead of `TOUCH` when `expire_dir_lease` is
`false`. If we are not going to reclaim the lease, leave it in
place instead of churning the list and resetting its timestamp; the
walk then terminates naturally (or via `STOP` at the first fresh
lease).
- Only return `-EAGAIN` from the first (dentry-lease) walk when something
was actually freed. A full batch that frees nothing means retrying
the same list immediately is futile; fall through to the dir-lease
walk instead.
- After both walks, bail out with success (0) when nothing was freed
and there is no cap pressure (`count==0`). There is no reason to
keep retrying when we are not over the cap limit and made no
progress.
Under real cap pressure (`count>0`) the reclaim path is unchanged and
still retries via `-EAGAIN`.
Without this patch, I saw 500 ceph_trim_dentries() calls per second on
our web servers. This is very visible in `/proc/lock_stat` (5 minute
capture):

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
jbd2: bound shrinker scans by examined checkpoint buffers
The jbd2 shrinker currently accounts only checkpoint buffers that it
successfully releases against nr_to_scan. Busy buffers therefore do not
consume the scan budget.
If a checkpoint transaction contains mostly busy buffers, the shrinker
can scan its entire checkpoint list while holding journal->j_list_lock.
Large checkpoint lists can result in excessive lock hold times and leave
other CPUs spinning on j_list_lock, causing soft lockups or RCU stalls.
Pass nr_to_scan into journal_shrink_one_cp_list() and decrement it for
every buffer examined, including busy buffers. Pass NULL from checkpoint
cleanup paths so their existing full-list behavior is preserved.
This restores the scan-budget semantics that existed before
journal_shrink_one_cp_list() was changed to always scan a complete
checkpoint list. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs3: fix circular locking dependency in run_unpack_ex
Syzbot reported a circular locking dependency between wnd->rw_lock
(sbi->used.bitmap) and ni->file.run_lock.
The deadlock scenario:
1. ntfs_extend_mft() takes ni->file.run_lock then wnd->rw_lock.
2. run_unpack_ex() takes wnd->rw_lock then tries to acquire
ni->file.run_lock inside ntfs_refresh_zone().
This creates an AB-BA deadlock.
Fix this by using down_read_trylock() instead of down_read() when
acquiring run_lock in run_unpack_ex(). If the lock is contended,
skip ntfs_refresh_zone() - the MFT zone will be refreshed on the
next MFT operation. This breaks the circular dependency since we
never block waiting for run_lock while holding wnd->rw_lock. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wireguard: device: use exit_rtnl callback instead of manual rtnl_lock in pre_exit
wg_netns_pre_exit() manually acquires rtnl_lock() inside the
pernet .pre_exit callback. This causes a hung task when another
thread holds rtnl_mutex - the cleanup_net workqueue (or the
setup_net failure rollback path) blocks indefinitely in
wg_netns_pre_exit() waiting to acquire the lock.
Convert to .exit_rtnl, introduced in commit 7a60d91c690b ("net:
Add ->exit_rtnl() hook to struct pernet_operations."), where the
framework already holds RTNL and batches all callbacks under a
single rtnl_lock()/rtnl_unlock() pair, eliminating the contention
window.
The rcu_assign_pointer(wg->creating_net, NULL) is safe to move
from .pre_exit to .exit_rtnl (which runs after synchronize_rcu())
because all RCU readers of creating_net either use maybe_get_net()
- which returns NULL for a dying namespace with zero refcount - or
access net->user_ns which remains valid throughout the entire
ops_undo_list sequence.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
serial: core: fix infinite loop in handle_tx() for PORT_UNKNOWN
uart_write_room() and uart_write() behave inconsistently when
xmit_buf is NULL (which happens for PORT_UNKNOWN ports that were
never properly initialized):
- uart_write_room() returns kfifo_avail() which can be > 0
- uart_write() checks xmit_buf and returns 0 if NULL
This inconsistency causes an infinite loop in drivers that rely on
tty_write_room() to determine if they can write:
while (tty_write_room(tty) > 0) {
written = tty->ops->write(...);
// written is always 0, loop never exits
}
For example, caif_serial's handle_tx() enters an infinite loop when
used with PORT_UNKNOWN serial ports, causing system hangs.
Fix by making uart_write_room() also check xmit_buf and return 0 if
it's NULL, consistent with uart_write().

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: add xmit recursion limit to tunnel xmit functions
Tunnel xmit functions (iptunnel_xmit, ip6tunnel_xmit) lack their own
recursion limit. When a bond device in broadcast mode has GRE tap
interfaces as slaves, and those GRE tunnels route back through the
bond, multicast/broadcast traffic triggers infinite recursion between
bond_xmit_broadcast() and ip_tunnel_xmit()/ip6_tnl_xmit(), causing
kernel stack overflow.
The existing XMIT_RECURSION_LIMIT (8) in the no-qdisc path is not
sufficient because tunnel recursion involves route lookups and full IP
output, consuming much more stack per level. Use a lower limit of 4
(IP_TUNNEL_RECURSION_LIMIT) to prevent overflow.
Add recursion detection using dev_xmit_recursion helpers directly in
iptunnel_xmit() and ip6tunnel_xmit() to cover all IPv4/IPv6 tunnel
paths including UDP encapsulated tunnels (VXLAN, Geneve, etc.).
Move dev_xmit_recursion helpers from net/core/dev.h to public header
include/linux/netdevice.h so they can be used by tunnel code.

| tinytag is a Python library for reading audio file metadata. From 2.0.0 until 2.3.0, an M4A file containing a sub-atom with a size of zero inside a ---- atom can cause the metadata parser to stop advancing through the input. The custom-field atom traversal repeatedly processes the malformed location, causing an infinite loop and denying service to a program that reads the crafted file. This issue is fixed in version 2.3.0. |
| A missing circuit-breaker in the replicator in Apache CouchDB 3.5.2 and below on all platforms allows the owner of a replication source or target to cause a denial of service via creating an infinite HTTP redirect loop.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.3, which fixes this issue. |
| By permanently omitting the final control-response line, a malicious FTP,
IMAP, POP3, or SMTP server can exploit libcurl and completely bypass its
configured transfer timeout mechanism, indefinitely blocking all concurrent

| A flaw was found in sssd. A local user can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by exhausting the responder service's available file descriptors (system handles used for open connections). By opening and maintaining many concurrent connections to a responder socket while continuing to queue new connection attempts, an attacker can trigger an unthrottled retry loop. This condition leads to high CPU utilization and stalls the service, preventing legitimate identity and authentication requests from being processed. |

| OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, Firewall Rules and NAT views place stored category names and alias descriptions into HTML title attributes in filter_rule.volt and nat_rule.volt without quote-safe encoding. The response layer uses ENT_NOQUOTES, so a double quote survives and closes the attribute, allowing an event-handler attribute to be added to the existing span. A user with Firewall Categories or Firewall Alias Edit privileges can store a category name or alias description; the category must be assigned to a filter or NAT rule, or the alias must be referenced by a rule source or destination, and the rule must be saved so the affected tooltip is rendered. drm/xe/guc: Hold device ref until queue teardown completes
GuC exec queue destruction can run asynchronously. If the final device
put happens from a destroy worker, drmm cleanup can end up draining
the same workqueue and deadlock.
Hold a drm_device reference for the queue lifetime and drop it after
queue teardown completes. This keeps drmm cleanup from running while
async destroy work is still pending.
Move GuC destroy work to a module-lifetime Xe workqueue and flush it
on PCI remove so hot-unbind/rebind still waits for pending destroy work.

| Thelia before 3.1.5 and 3.2.x before 3.2.4 contains a business logic vulnerability that allows authenticated customers to bypass coupon usage limits because usage is counted only when orders become paid. Attackers can place multiple pay-later orders while a usage remains, or cancel paid orders to inflate max_usage, gaining unlimited discounts. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
misc: nsm: only unlock nsm_dev on post-lock error paths
nsm_dev_ioctl() jumps to the common out label even when the initial
copy_from_user() fails before nsm->lock has been taken. The error path
then blindly unlocks a mutex that was never acquired.
This issue was found by our static analysis tool and then manually
reviewed against the current tree.
The grounded PoC kept the miscdevice ioctl entry and the pre-lock
copy_from_user(&raw, argp, _IOC_SIZE(cmd)) failure path by issuing
NSM_IOCTL_RAW with an invalid user pointer. That failure reaches the
shared out label before mutex_lock(&nsm->lock). Lockdep reported:
WARNING: bad unlock balance detected!
exploit/193 is trying to release lock (&global_nsm.lock) at:
nsm_dev_ioctl+0x5f/0xcf [vuln_msv]
but there are no more locks to release!
no locks held by exploit/193.
Return immediately on the pre-lock copy_from_user() failure and keep the
common unlock label for the post-lock paths only. |
